Why should girls take on the challenge of hard sciences?

Mathematics and computer science play a key role in the digital and technological transformations of our time. However, these disciplines are still underrepresented by women , even though they offer considerable career prospects. Nisrine Jrad recalled that one of UCO’s goals is to deconstruct stereotypes to encourage more young women to pursue these fields.

Sarah’s story: a bold journey

Sarah, a Bachelor of Business Data Sciences student at UCO, shared her experience with great sincerity. Passionate about numbers and their application to real-world problems, she found a balance between technical expertise and business challenges in her program.

She also discussed the challenges she faces as a woman in a field sometimes perceived as masculine: “There are sometimes surprised looks, but it’s also motivating. At UCO, I found a real community and support that allowed me to believe in my abilities and push my limits.”

An initiative that is part of a broader dynamic

This web conference is part of the StudyLive event Ingénieure au féminin , which aims to promote diversity and gender equality in traditionally male-dominated sectors. The Catholic University of the West, as a committed player, continues to multiply initiatives to support young women in their academic and professional success .
